Motorcycle Classes Selection Explanation
Rimba Raid X Lenggong 2025 categorized bikes into three classes:
MasterClass A is the premier class, racers riding large heavyweight adventure motorcycles with multicylinder engines above 1,000 cubic capacity. Weighing above 245kgs in race trim, only the braves take part in this race as it runs on trail-befitting enduro bikes weighing merely 105kgs. Bike models in this category are the BMW R1250GS, KTM 1190/1290, Honda CRF1100L, Harley Davidson Pan America 1250 and others.
Class B is where the most intense competition resides. Bikes with multicylinder engines between 235cc to 999cc but significantly lighter than the MasterClass A bikes, these bikes are very competitive and agile on the Rimba Raid trail, and past races have proved that Class B bikes are more than a match even against the lighter purpose-built enduro bikes, frequently posting the fastest time of the Event. Class B bikes start from the Kawasaki Versys 250X to the Ducati Desert X.
Class C bikes are limited to one cylinder with cubic capacity ranging from 235 cc upwards.
These motorcycles were purchased at dealerships instead of being one-off special-built racing machines. Therefore, it provides a chance for every rider to participate in a sanctioned international race. As proof, part of Rimba Raid regulations states that every motorcycle must have working headlights, taillights, and brake lights. The objective is for all competitors to test their machines to the fullest in the real world. Almost every brand that builds adventure and dual-purpose motorcycles is represented. Rimba Raid is about riding big road-going motorcycles in a natural environment on pre-existing trails to their design limits with the objective of setting the fastest possible time. It is for that reason that only road legal motorcycles that passes our scrutineering process be allowed to take part: Motorcycle you can race with, and then tomorrow, ride 1,000kms crossing borders with the pillion behind it. Motorcycles that can be purchased over the counter, and not purpose-built, one-off or expensive limited-run prototype vehicles.
Rimba Raid values fairness in competition, consistent with the element of safety, in a race environment where financial investment is not a major hindrance to all competitors desiring to participate. Hence there is equal opportunity for most to achieve a podium finish. With the variety of different adventure and dual-purpose motorcycles currently available, engine capacity and configuration will be the main determinants in categorising the race Classes. There will be three Classes of bikes:

MASTERCLASS A
Multi-cylinder above 1000cc

CLASS B
Multi-cylinder between 250cc - 999cc

CLASS C
Single-cylinder between 250cc - 800cc
While all efforts have been made to compile a comprehensive list of motorcycles below, Rimba Raid understands that there may be some motorcycles missing from the list.
